ENERGY SOURCES(SCHEME)

ENERGY SOURCES

RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES----don’t run out when we use them

SOLAR ENERGY

-It’s one of the main sources of renewable energy

-The sun is the cleanest source of energy.

-Solar panels don’t pollute the environment.

WIND ENERGY

-It’s one of the main sources of renewable energy

-Only effective in windy places

-Building wind turbines can damage wildlife habitats

WATER ENERGY

It’s one of the main sources of renewable energy

Building dams can destroy wildlife habitats

GEOTHERMAL ENERGY

Is heat that comes from the centre of the Earth

Only exists in areas with volcanic activity

Clean energy source, it doesn’t pollute the air

BIOMASS

-We burn biomass (wood, food waste, crops…) to produce energy

-Can contribute to deforestation and global warming.

NON RENEWABLE-ENERGY SOURCES----are limited

FOSSIL FUELS---They came from organic matter. Burning fossil fuels contributes to global warming.

-Coal-----to get energy and to produce electricity. The biggest source of air pollution

-Crude oil---contributes to climate change

-Natural gas-----cleaner than the others but contributes to global warming

URANIUM----Radioactive metal, they use uranium to generate electricity. IS A HIGHLY TOXIC METAL
